Why I Added SIMRP to My Project Management Business (Spoiler: It Wasn’t Just for the Acronyms)

So, picture this: you’re running a project management company, you’ve got an insurance license in your back pocket, and life is good. You’re managing timelines, wrangling budgets, and making Gantt charts look like works of art. Then one day, you have an epiphany—what if you add SIMRP (Simplified Individual Medical Reimbursement Plans) to your service offerings? Because, obviously, nothing says “project management” like throwing health benefits into the mix, right?

Let’s rewind.

As a project management company owner, you’re already used to juggling about 17 different things at once—timelines, clients, budgets, and on occasion, a screaming toddler (see previous blog post). So, when a small business owner client asks, “Can you help us find affordable health benefits for our employees?” you think, “Sure, why not? I’ve got an insurance license. I’m basically a Swiss Army knife of business solutions.”

But why SIMRP, you ask? Here’s the thing: small businesses need all the help they can get, especially when it comes to offering health benefits without selling a kidney. SIMRP is like the ultimate project management hack for benefits. It’s simple, affordable, and doesn’t require a PhD to understand. In fact, it’s almost like managing a project, but instead of deadlines, you’re helping business owners navigate health reimbursements—aka making them look like heroes without blowing up their budget. And I’m all about making people look like heroes.

Of course, incorporating SIMRP into my work also means I get to throw around phrases like “medical reimbursement plans” and “IRS compliance” in casual conversation, which definitely makes me sound super fancy. And let's be honest, who doesn’t love a little extra flair in their business lingo?

So, why did I decide to add SIMRP? Well, apart from the acronyms, I realized that offering health benefits through this plan is a natural extension of what I already do—solve problems, make complicated things simpler, and save my clients from headaches (and possibly paper cuts from all that insurance paperwork). Plus, it’s one more way to be a superhero for small businesses, and who doesn’t love that?

In the end, it’s all about keeping my clients happy, helping them grow, and ensuring they can manage their businesses while I manage the chaos for them. And if I get to throw in a few insurance benefits along the way? Well, that’s just icing on the project management cake.
